HOW TO CONTOUR AND HIGHLIGHT

Once again, we’re delighted to share a basic makeup tutorial from Los Angeles based makeup artist, Amy Clarke. She has created this lovely tutorial along with one of our favorite photographers, Bryce Covey, to detail and demonstrate how to perfect the art of contouring and highlighting using makeup.
Take these tips from Amy to add to your ever-growing arsenal of makeup techniques. We know how difficult it is to get straight information when you’re looking through hundreds of turorials on how to perfect a makeup skill (to use bronzer or not to use bronzer?!) but as always, Amy has made it easier than ever for you to learn how to use your natural bone structure and just a few key pieces of makeup to contour and highlight your best features. Use this basic makeup tip to kick your daily beauty routine up a notch!
Contour & Highlight:1.+ 2.  Apply one layer of foundation or tinted moisturizer all over face. I used Tarte’s BB Cream in “Medium Light”. Using a foundation brush and a cream concealer (2 to 3 times lighter than your skin tone), apply concealer (the highlight) to the under eyes, down the sides of the nose, and brushed back and upward toward the hairline.
3. Using the same concealer, highlight the center of the forehead and down the bridge of the nose, upper lip, center of the chin and on your brow bone. Lastly, apply the concealer to the jawline, just under your cheekbones.
4. Once you’ve finished with all the highlighting, it’s time to apply the contour. Pick a cool-toned cream concealer or foundation thats 2 to 3 shades darker than your skin tone. Taking a smaller, stiff brush or foundation brush, apply the contour cream to the hallows of your cheeks, just below your cheekbone, all the way to your hairline.
5.+ 6. +7. Apply the same color to your forehead near your hairline, temples, jawline, the sides of your neck and to the sides of your nose.
8. Using a wet Beauty Blender or Duo Fiber Blending Brush, blend all the contour and highlighter together until there is no more distinction between the two colors.
9. Lastly, Apply a light dusting of blush, and set all the highlight with a loose powder using a small natural bristled brush. I used Tarte’s 12 Hour Amazonian Clay Blush in “Tipsy” and Make Up For Ever’s Super Matte Loose Powder in “Translucent Natural”.
Pro Tip: You can use cream or powders to contour or highlight, creams are easier to blend and tend to look more natural. Avoid using bronzer to contour. You are creating a “shadow” so think of a color that’s similar to an actual shadow, which tends to be a cooler tone.  Use Bronzer to warm up your skin and make it look sun-kissed!

How to : Apply False Eyelashes

How to : Apply False Eyelashes
Step by Step :

Have you ever spent hours in front of the mirror trying to apply fake eyelashes, only to end up with them sticking out at strange angles, or—worse—fall off completely after a few hours? Because falsies are tricky to master, we tapped Los Angeles–based makeup artist Gia Brascia to show us her tried-and-true application (and removal) tips.
For the tutorial, we used Kevyn Aucoin The Lash Collection in Starlett.
1: Before you do anything else, measure the length of the lash to make sure it fits your eye shape. If the strip needs to be cut to fit, snip the outer edge completely off with small nail scissors. This will avoid drooping at the corner (meaning: no more lashes poking your eyeball).
2: Take both edges of the lash and bend inward to create a “C” shape, and hold for a couple of seconds. That’s the best way to take out the straightness and ensure it molds to our curved eye shape and stays put without the corners lifting up. Just this alone will make the rest of the process effortless.
3: Apply a high-quality glue such as DUO Eyelash Adhesive for lasting results (Brascia suggests avoiding the glue that comes with your lashes). If you have a steady hand, you can squeeze straight from the tube onto the strip. Tend to get shaky? An easy trick: put glue on the reverse (handle) end of a tweezer and glide it across the strip, as pictured. Be generous at both the inner and outer corners so the glue won’t unstick when you blink.
4: Wait ten seconds or so for the glue to become more tactile and sticky (you can also blow on the glue or wave it gently in the air) before placing the lash. This is the best way to keep the strip from slipping around while you’re trying to line it up properly.
5: Aim for the base of your natural lash line, right on top of your real lashes, not touching the eyelid at all. The glue dries clear, so don’t worry if a little gets on your skin.
6: Once you’ve placed both lashes, you can do your mascara; this will help integrate the natural lashes with the false ones.
7: If you see a gap showing on the eyelid between your real lashes and falsies, don’t worry! You don’t have to pull it off and start again, says Brascia. Just fill in the gap, using a matte black eye shadow as a liner to hide it (we used Inglot Cosmetics Freedom System Eyeshadow in 391). This step will also help the glue dry more quickly

Removal Tips: Always remove false lashes before taking off rest of your eye makeup. First pre-soften the glue with a cotton swab that’s been soaked in an oily makeup remover, like rms beauty Raw Coconut Cream. Dab the swab along the lash line to loosen the glue and break down its stickiness. With your eye open, take hold of the lash at tip of the outer corner. Then close your eyes and very slowly peel the strip away from your real lash, working from outer to inner corner—toward the nose.

Step by Step :
1. Start applying the make beige pencil below the brow and inner corner. I spread the sequence with the index finger.
2. Now every eye contour with black pencil, without exceeding the dobrinha eye. It is important that the pencil has a slightly creamy texture, so it does not "stain" the lid and let the black uniform.
3. With a pontudinho soft contour brush all black with brown shadow opaque chocolate.
4. With a fluffy brush caught the same brown shadow and esfumó it on the concave and outer corner. But not too out, follow the rounded design of my eye, and you should follow the design of yours, okay?
5. With the same brush cuddly caught opaque and esfumó black shadow below her brown concave and outer corner.
6. Now with a dense and firm brush deposit opaque black shade on the mobile eyelid, leaving the very strong tone to dobrinha eye. Apply one three layers of black to stay ultra strong! It is important to press the brush against the eyelid, so the shadow adheres better. Rubbing or think, okay?
7. With a low cut brush to apply the black shadow close to the lower lashes, and upon leaving the brown pencil shading out.
8. I conclude with beige shade illuminating the internal corner. This step is optional, as my eye is small I like to turn up, but if you have olhão can jump!

Everyday Chic Neutral Makeup Tutorials

Everyday Chic Neutral Makeup Tutorials
Step by Step :

1. Start the make applying the Light Up the Contains 1g below the eyebrow, then esfumó with the index finger it. This step I do ALWAYS, regardless of makeup. This facilitates the smoky concave and leaves look bigger and more beautiful.
2. Then apply a primer across eyelid (I used the Make B) and then an opaque brown shade a couple, three tones above the natural color of my skin. Apply it to the dobrinha eye rising slightly above the concave.
3. I take this brown to the outer corner of light, so do not give to see where it ends and where the color begins to "skin". Thus the outer corner is not with any "marking", but very natural.* This step makes life much easier, because for me the hardest of makeup and make that defined zone.
4. Step the same brown close to the lower lashes, linking upper eye with less.
5. To give a smooth setting around the eyes, blending a brown gray shadow on the outer corner (in lying V) and concave, very lightly, leaving that cintilância "inside" the light brown shade.
6. With a thin brush to apply Satin Taupe close to the lower lashes too.
7. To define the outline of the lashes apply black pencil only the middle of the eye to the outer corner, above and below. Then esfumó with the same brush I used to apply the Kid shadow, because as he is "Sujinho" with brown shade will soften the black.
8. Apply a cream shadow in the inner corner a little invading the upper and lower eyelid.
9. To give a boss in the eye apply a little illuminating shade in the middle of the eyelid.

3. To dissolve the black is not enough to blending, so use a sparkling brown shade, it facilitates the smoky and removes any "blurred" black pencil. I used the West.
4. Now apply black eyeshadow duo Spell close to the lower lashes and up making a slight "Egyptian pulled". Take and seal the outer corner with the same shade, but within the dobrinha eye.
5. Fill the mobile eyelid with the Golden Spell duo. It is important to mix well the encounter between the golden and black near the outer corner (the union of the two form a beautiful color!).

Wonderful Gold with Smokey eye Makeup Tutorials

Step by Step :
1. Following step the golden trio shadow in the inner corner and take until the middle of the eye, both at the bottom and the top. I took a slightly moistened with water in the brush.2. In the other half of the eye shadow apply the lead trio. Take care and blending the meeting between her and the gold. Again I used damp brush.3. Step black pencil close to the lower lashes, waterline in close to the upper lashes.4. Over apply the black shadow trio and already esfumó. When the black meets the golden form a more grayish tone. It seems that spent lead close to the lower lashes but I have not spent, it's just the same meeting the golden with black.5. With the same shade and brush in March the outer corner and the concave. In this part moistened lightly brush too!6. Now with a dry brush cuddly and take a little black and esfumó pulling it out. Notice in the picture that I take toward the root of the chops. In this step you have to take SUPER brush pressure, he MAL touches the skin, ok? This leaves the lighter smoky "transforming" the black on gray. The beige below the eyebrow also help in this color transition.7. After smoke come back to black shadow and the moistened brush and strengthening the external and concave corner.

Not that switching things up isn't nice though... and I suppose I can just keep posting hair tutorials whenever the heck I feel like it right? haha Here's another elegant yet simple little 'do', the second to last in this holiday series! enjoy:

Also a fun side note:  we were running out of the house for a last minute date a bit ago and I did this style in the car with slightly wet hair, and when I took it out the next day I had pretty fantastic waves! Step by Step :

1. Start the maker making a WAVE outlined in the hollow. It starts on the inside, making the wave rises slightly above the concave and down making a puxadinho following the direction of the tip of the eyebrow.
2. I had passed the golden pencil before, but now enhanced! Apply it close to the lower lashes along the lines outlined in black outer corner. Also fill the inside corner with the gold.
3. Fill the golden pencil with a bright golden shade.
4. Black outlined above apply an opaque brown shade, following the same contour!
5. Esfume brown with fluffy brush up it lightly.
6. With an opaque black shadow fill the space between the outline and the smoky brown. It is important that a brown bordinha be "free" of black, ok? The smoky brown must go!
7. Blending with cuddly paintbrush to the softer and less marked black. Here you have to blending for a long time, because thin black shadow is not easy!
8. Eyelid leftovers apply fixative and over the sparkling blue shade. In the picture the application was made with brush, but I applied with the fingers even, and I used the brush just to fix the bordinhas.
9. Come back to black shadow and give a stronger at the outer corner, closing the V lying! After all esfumó again (forgot to take pictures, but basically blending with fluffy brush everything to be smooth color transitions).

DOMINO

DOMINO
Good morning, Everyone! Hope you are all having a wonderful week!
I wanted to take this opportunity to share a few pics of one of my new favorite dresses, i.e. the gorgeous black and white number I am wearing in today's post. A big fan of the black and white color combination in general, from the moment I saw this dress, I feel in love with the cut and the color block pleated side inserts. A perfect combination of classic and sexy, this one is definitely one of those  twirl-worthy dresses I am always raving about :)

The Fancy Bun

The Fancy Bun
Hey everyone! Welcome back to my blog, and also to the last day of the holiday hair tutorial week! I've been really enjoying flooding you guys with these styles, because I have so many that I want to pass on all the time between all my ideas and your requests(thank you by the way!), so it's great to get a weeks worth out of my system all at once:) Today's style is a little special to me, and I'll tell you why right after you take a look!
The reason this style is special, is because this is how I styled my own hair for my wedding! I used a hair piece back then to give it an even fuller look, but this is it! I had a bit of a sad experience that I'll go into more later maybe, but basically I thought it would be a treat to have someone else do my hair for my wedding for the first time in my life, but on the trial run day(the day of our photo-shoot) she did such a horrible job, it made me realize that nobody would be able to do my hair just like I wanted it, except me! Who does their own hair and makeup on their wedding day? haha But in the end it was exactly what I wanted, and I couldn't have been happier:) Alright now lets get on with it.haha
Well I hope you like it! Again I try to be as descriptive as possible, but then if I do too much text or pictures I think people get intimidated and are maybe afraid to give it a try, so I hope you're not one of those people and really see how simple and easy going this style is!
Thanks so much for visiting this week and for leaving all the feedback about these styles..

Bohemian Gypsy Style

Bohemian Gypsy Style
Hi:) I hope you're having a great weekend! Today's tutorial is not really an average every day style, and it's definitely different than most other tutorials I do on the blog, but I've gotten a fair amount of requests for gypsy style/faux dreadlocks type of styles, and I figured that this would go perfectly in the line-up for my Festival Hair week! I used to do various versions of this to my hair a lot in high-school, so it's fun to finally get it out on here:What do you think? This tutorial may seem complicated but I promise it's much easier than it looks, and it's lots of fun to do! I may have to do a video for my channel soon so you can see more easily how simple. It's really just random placement of some faux dreadlocks and some braids, feathers, etc, and you don't have to worry about it looking messy or unkempt because that's a big part of the whole idea anyways!:)
Also if you have a festival or fair you're going to or something of that nature, it's really fun to do once in while. Also because you're using coconut milk enriched serum to coat the dreads you're really nourishing your hair while you wear this style, so that's pretty neat too! haha I'll shut up now though and get on with the tutorial..

GreenWash Mint Makeup Tutorials
Step by Step :

1. Start the make applying a white base across eyelid. Also applied a tiny bit below the eyebrow and esfumei with your fingers!
2. Mark concave eye with black pencil and take it out (do not go down there in the black outer corner, right?).
3. Caught the darkest black shimmering eyeshadow palette of 226 colors Macrilan and esfumó black pencil tightly in the hollow. As I shot up the "pressure" of the brush leaving the softer smoky. Thus it is gray!
4. In the inner corner of the eyelid up to 1/3 applying the most clarinha shadow Palette Macrilan. I used brush, but even better is that shadow apply with sponge or your fingers, right?
5. In the center of the eye apply a more intense truth. Well mermaid same! With this green fill 2/3 of the eyelid and the external corner with nothing.
6. Close to the lower lashes black pencil step (middle to outside) and up the pencil filling in the external zone that was without shadow. Following esfumó pencil and I take it is Sujinho black to reinforce the concave. Oh, also pass the pencil across waterline.
7. With a fluffy brush come back to black shadow of Macrilan palette and esfumó it at the outer corner light well (to go gray!) And pull out.
8. I end passing the light green shade close to the lower lashes of the internal corner to the middle of the eye.
